Moab & Salt Lake City

Three days in Moab — Arches National Park one day, Canyonlands the next. The Utah desert is a different kind of landscape than anywhere else in the US: red sandstone formations carved into shapes that look engineered, distances that flatten in the heat, light that changes the entire scene by the hour.

Hiked Delicate Arch at sunset. Drove the rim road in Canyonlands. Stopped at Mesa Arch in the early morning when the underside of the arch glows orange from reflected sunrise light. It's the most photographed sunrise spot in the US for a reason.
